An animator's blog where we confirms he is directing the meet the sniper video to be released soon. This could be found through google before the meet the demoman video was released because it was listed in his animator credits but since the video was released, google is full of WHOAMG MEET DEMOMAN links and his blog is buried. --Wilsonator 05:30, 6 December 2007 (CST)

It's out and transcribed! Homepie 19:09, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

I added a little blurb about the jars of urine that are visible on the "Meet the Sniper" text, down near the bottom. Should we mention the impressive quantity of it he generates during the time lapse? I mean, we mention that it happens, but it might be interesting to put under the "Notes," because it's probably made excessive to be humorous. Midaki 20:16, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Magnum Force Theme

I've just found the remix used in 'Meet the Sniper', I thought it'd be interesting for the people around here. This guy removed all the vocals and didn't damage the music one bit. --Daimao 12:07, 5 October 2008 (GMT)

Awesome! Thanks for this find!--Wilsonator 13:59, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Smoking Discussion

Wait, the sniper smokes? I severely doubt that. Look at the video, he doesn't smoke.HelisPoe 21:01, 18 June 2008 (CST)

Look closer at the ashtrays and cigarettes in the very first shot with the civilian. Also on the 'Meet the Sniper' screen, the little things on the ground are used cigarette butts. --Wilsonator 22:08, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

I don't think they're cigarette buts, they look more like spent bullet casings. And it's hard to tell what really is in the ashtray. I could be a cigar or a bullet casing. It definitely doesn't look like a cigarette but to me.--TFT Magic Kukri 16:36, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Yes, it looks like a cigarette but, look here: Image:sig.jpg --Stylee32 20:34, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Oh, now I see it. Thanks for the help.--TFT Magic Kukri 00:24, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Wait, the Demoman smokes? I don't see the Demoman smoking in any part of the videos. --Deathchon122 01:25, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

He doesn't smoke in the video but there are ashtrays in his room with still smoking cigs in them.--Wilsonator 14:53, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
Hrmmm, but could it be the interviewer(s) who smoke(s)? --Ducky of the West 11:29, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

he makes lots of weewee

i think it should be mentioned how much he peas.

Done and Done.--Wilsonator 22:40, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Driving on the wrong side of the road

Aussies drive on the left, hes shown driving on the right, which assuming the video in australia is a continutiy.. Steak Sandwich 04:56, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

True, That's quite silly... maybe it's so the majority of watchers don't see anything wrong. (The fact that the sniper's calling his parents leads me to believe it is set in Australia and he's not working oversea). Humbug 10:39, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
I thought he was in the dustbowl area, somewhere in Texas.--Wilsonator 10:46, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

I strongly believe the video (and the game itself) takes place in the four corners region on the U.S., as evidenced by the natural arch (common in Utah) in the beginning of the video, and the desert environment of most maps and tall mountainous environment of arena_lumberyard. --Goose511th 23:54, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
I wonder if you guys see what I see: Sniper pushes the signal lever down (thus signalling to the left) and then proceeds turning right. -- Ralesk 01:57, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

To kill everyone you...?

Are you guys sure he says "everyone you meet"? i think it sounds more like a "everyone you must".

It definitely sounds like "meet" to me (I'm an Aussie if it matters...)
'Have a plan to kill everyone you meet' is an old expression, and this is a reference to that.
"Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everyone you meet." It's an old USMC saying. -- TripcodeMel 23:22, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Bus in the end of the video

Shouldn't it be mentioned that the bus in the end of the video (when he asks dad to put mom on the phone) has written "BLUDOG" on it, which is probably a reference to "GREYHOUND" lines of the USA (see Greyhound_Lines). That would also indicate that the video is staged in USA and not Australia.

This is pretty weak. There is Greyhound in Australia, Canada and Mexico along with the US.
The wikipedia article lists the service area as USA and Canada only. The reference itself also still stands. Don't forget to sign your posts either.--Wilsonator 23:08, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

"I think his mate saw me"

I can clearly hear he sais: "I think this mate's no me." "Yes, yes he is." Am I the only one hearing that, or I'm just deaf?

I always thought he said "I think he's (he has) might saw me". --evenprime 15:10, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
The Sniper doesn't say "he is," he says "he did." It has to be "I think his mate saw me - Yes, yes he did!" because the grammar doesn't fit otherwise. -- TripcodeMel 06:17, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Unknown target during timelapse?

I don't know whether or not the unknown target during the time lapse scene where the Sniper waits to take a shot at should be counted for body count.

Hungry... or angry?

"I guarantee you'll not go hungry-"

I think he says angry... any Aussies here confirm what is correct? Colinstu 08:26, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

Hungry--MrTwoVideoCards 11:07, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

He does say hungry but it sounds like he doesnt say the "H" he just sounds like he is saying "Ungry". But it would make sense for him to say hungry because afterwards he talks about always having work. --DJTricky 14:47, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

Yep, definitely "hungry." I've heard this saying quite a lot (being an Aussie might have something to do with it) and it is common for (especially stereotypical) Aussie accents to sound like that. Humbug 10:47, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

What's the Medic holding in the end sequence?

I know in the previous Meet The Team videos, he's holding a Bonesaw... But I can't tell what he's holding at the end of this one. Any ideas? EDIT: Nevermind, I found out that it's still a Bonesaw. I got confused because the blade seems to merge into the background, and the handle's a different colour.

Looks to me like the Medic is holding the default Medigun. Snakexdude11

Is that why the demo man has an eye patch?

Because in the video it shows the sniper shooting the heavy, and the demo mans bottle breaks. Could glass have gotten in his eye?

If you look closely you can see the demoman still has the eyepatch on his left eye when the bottle enters his right eye. --DJTricky 03:18, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Even more subtle commentary?

Again courtesy of hi-def and Valve's blog it's possible to note throughout the vid that the camper he drives has broken side/rear view mirrors, at least on the driver's side. Perhaps a low-key hint about some Snipers' lack of situational awareness.

I dunno, it may just be to fit the whole run-down feel of the game.--Wilsonator 15:27, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

FOAD: Camping fun for the whole family!

I believe that in addition to "Fuck Off And Die", that FOAD and the sign is a reference to Moab, Utah, which is the nearest town to Arches National park which is famous for its natural arches like the one in the beginning of the video. Anyone who has driven north on 191 to Arches also knows that the signs leading up to the park are kind of cheesy like the one in the video. Red truck?

Remember the truck in 'Meet the Engineer' full of intel? When the Sniper is first on the phone with his dad, doesn't the truck that passes him (making a transition into a close up) look like the red variant?

FOAD sign hints eyelander

Recently, i was looking at the FOAD sign in the model viewer. i saw 2 people in the F. one with a decapitated head. the other with a sword. possible hint??? yes im very late... Ollyeng 19:43, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Yes it's been seen. Probably not something to note. Smashman 23:09, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
Yet someone did. El Weegee 17:13, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

The Camper Van

I've noticed that the Camper Van has these:

1. Center of the steering wheel appears to look like a Domination symbol 2. Next to the wheel is a small box. On the top of it "Slugz" can be read. Slugz could reffernce Sluge ammunition. 3. On the back board behind the seats is the Sniper's Sniper Rifle (not really note worthy) with an Australian (possibly to remove further dought that he is Australian) El Weegee 17:18, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

Hungry?

I found this on the last phrase the Sniper says in his van. It was saying: "I guarantee you'll not go hungry-", but I knew this was wrong, because what he actually says is angry. Doing this job can't be a guarantee of not getting hungry :P Edited it already. EricPires9 23:58, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

  • Not going hungry is in reference to always having work, and thus always getting paid, and thus always having food. Nobody in the history of mankind has ever used the phrase "Not go angry". This was discussed earlier on the talk page, scroll up. Edited it back. TheCarpe 03:20, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
