Explanation
Points are the basic scoring unit of Team Fortress 2, points are awarded for different successful offensive and defensive actions.
Points can be given in halves. However, they do not show on your score until you accumulate the other half.
'Point' may also refer to a Control point.
How to Earn Them
This section may not be 100% accurate, these numbers are based on limited research done and information taken from the Team Fortress 2 Forums.
